June Show Upstairs At The Garage

We’re delighted to be bringing you 3 insanely exciting bands on June 1st at The Garage in Islington. They’re also 3 of our favorite bands which is nice. Without further ado, we give you The Victorian English Gentlemens Club, Fever Fever and Ill Murray!

The Victorian English Gentlemens Club FlyerTickets are £7 in advance from WeGotTickets. It’s going to be a killer show.

The Victorian English Gentlemens Club

TVEGC are inventive, artisic and incredible. More importantly they are brutal and thrilling live. Rightly hailed by NME and Artrocker, amongst others, for their live shows and 2011′s album ‘Bag Of Meat’ this show will be the last chance to see them in London in 2012 before the band head to Paris to start album number 4.

Fever Fever

Hi. We’re Fever Fever fans. You may have noticed. The last time we promoted them they sold out and all but destroyed The Shacklewell Arms in Dalston so we know you’re in for a deadly show. Since then they’ve rammed shows at The Camden Crawl and The Great Escape. The next 12 months are going to be big for Fever Fever and that starts on June 1st.

Ill Murray

Do you like skuzzed up hook laden garage punk pop? Well Ill Murray are the band for you. These 4 Cambridge yoofs deliver songs that you’ll want to sing along and smash things up to at the same time. That’s a combination that’s just swell with us.

If you like the sound of all that then you can get tickets here. But do it fast as they’re going quick.

See you there, front and centre,

Much Love,

7 Things That Make The Great Escape Great

1) 300 Bands in 30 Venues in 3 Days. What’s not to like about that? Especially when they include….

2) Abi Wade
Abi WadeAbi Wade (cello.box.voice) A Musical collaboration between limbs, strings and vocal chords. Her music is seemingly and seamlessly sewn together, each beat, melody and bass line put exactly in its place, to create songs that pull the heart strings and a performance that will beguile and intrigue.

3) Cut Ribbons
Cut RibbonsWelsh songsters Cut Ribbons have a lot going for them, immaculate live performers, girl boy harmonies that could make Slow Club turn green with envy and a knack for hooks that don’t feel like hooks. The band can include Nick Grimshaw and Annie Mac, Jen Long and Huw Stephens as fans so this is a good chance to see them before they take over the world.

4) Fever Fever
Fever FeverIf you’ve ever paid attention to half of what we spew out online the chances are you know we LOVE Fever Fever. If you’ve been to a lot of our shows the chances are you know we LOVE Fever Fever. Well, WE LOVE Fever Fever. Made up of Rosie, Ellie and Smit, their brand of ferocious art-punk is urgent and exhilarating, serving up pounding drums, molten guitar riffs and acerbic vocals that are precision-made to make DIY idealists lose their minds. Just watch them.

5) Grimes
GrimesIf you haven’t heard or seen Grimes yet then we hope you enjoyed your time living under a rock. The Canadian electro-songstress cut her teeth as a performer in the illegal DIY loft rave culture of Montreal playing shows which left buildings close to condemned. Grimes’ music is where punk ethos and pop music collide into a euphoric yet hard edged work to lose yourself to.
Grimes – Oblivion by iamnotbatman
Grimes Plays: Digital 11th May 20.45

6) HAIM

Haim – Forever
HAIM Play: Psychosocial Basement 11th May 21.45 / Audio 12th May 20.45

7) Rich Aucoin
Rich AucoinRich Aucoin has the best live reputation in Canada. Better than Celine Dion or Bryan Adams, which is quite something. Rich Aucoin is a force of beat-blasted rave-ups and synth-stricken jams. Aucoin’s real appeal rises in the form of his live shows which invariably explode into crowd-surfed extravaganzas. Simply put, watching Rich Aucoin live is one of the most fun experiences you can have.
